If She Could Talk

Ruthlessly she was stripped
and left naked and exposed.

She is older and stronger now.
Wise.

She holds stories and secrets in her belly and
deep within her soul,
not offering them to anyone.

Yawning, she stretches shakes and shimmies
in the cool breeze.
The moonlight enhances her every move.
I am in awe. I am strangely comforted.

To yield, shelter and protect,
she asks for little and gives so much.

Flamingo Cafe

A relatively new "Melbourne Style" Laneway Cafe in Winn Street Fortitude Valley, is Flamingo Cafe. They've tried so hard to be grungey/retro and cool that to be honest, it's wanky. Less is More people. However, the coffee was great and I had a chocolate chip cookie baked fresh that morning which was sweet and delicious and reminded me of something my mum would make. I think it's a trendy little hang out for the late teens and early twenties or a great place for a take-away coffee. http://www.flamingocafe.com.au/

Chermside Bowls Club

Located on the top of the hill on Rode Road, Chermside is the Chermside Bowls Club. It is open to the public every Saturday for Barefoot Bowls. At $8 per person (includes bowles), $5 Coronas and $1 sausage sizzle it's a cheap date or day with mates and great way to have fun! Oh and it's $1 social membership! BARGAIN!

The View Not Enough to Pass Kingsleys Steak and Crabhouse Brisbane

I had originally booked this restaurant, on a recommendation, to show off Brisbane to my visiting Irish friend. Unfortunately she was not able to make it, however my partner and I decided to keep our booking and experience what Kingsleys had to offer.

On arrival, we were impressed with the locality of the restaurant and the outside deck offering amazing views of the Brisbane River and the beautiful Story Bridge lit up in all of it's glory. We were seated and then asked three times by three different wait staff if we wanted some water. After that, sadly, there was practically nil service. We were left to top up our own glasses of champagne, had to wait for our Pinot to be served with our main, the bill was thrown on the table and the waiter mumbled something to us about wanting anything else after we finished our main meal. The Singapore Chilli Crab was disappointing with the sauce being too overpowering and not allowing any crab flavour through what-so-ever. It could have been fish-sticks under there for all I knew! (Apart from the shell I suppose!) The Rib Eye Fillet we had for our mains was served by itself, so we ordered sides of Potatoes and Green Beans. I have to report that the Beans were the tastiest part of the whole meal. The Steak was not flavoursome at all and I would have enjoyed one more from the Pineapple Hotel.

Terrible service and average food for quite a hefty bill, the View was not enough to pass Kingsleys Steak and Crabhouse and I won't be back nor will I recommend it to anyone, especially not an overseas or interstate visitor to our Capital City.
